GEAR TESTS: SONY A7S III Underwater Camera Review
Test Footage
James Emery Producer |
The Sony A7S III is highly recommended for underwater videographers seeking outstanding
image quality and ease of use. With its 12.1-megapixel full-frame sensor, this camera delivers
exceptional low-light performance and minimal noise even at high ISO settings. Notably, the
A7S III excels in white balance accuracy, reliably capturing stunning results even at depths of
100 feet or more. For the best color results, I used two Keldan 8x with ambient filters.
My lens of choice is the Nauticam WWL-1B lens, which can be easily mounted in front of the
Sony 28-60 F4-5.6 lens. This combination creates an ultra-flexible video rig that allows for
capturing all the necessary shots within a single dive, simplifying the filmmaking process
underwater. Whether you're capturing wide-angle scenes or close-up details, the A7S III
provides the versatility and image quality required to bring your video sequences to life.
